Welcome to the cookieboodolls blog, this is a blog about my American Girl dolls and what they get up to when humans aren’t around. I started my Instagram cookieboodolls back in November 2014 (back then it was known as cookiebooag) and I have pretty much grew up being apart of the American Girl community. I went on a hiatus back in 2018 and sold most of my collection other than 9 dolls and a few outfits. I thought I outgrew AGIG but actually I just needed to focus on what was important to me at the time, which was school. That being said, I don’t regret down sizing my collection, it lacked diversity and much of their clothes were quite immature, now my dolls have a style that is more like my own. In 2021 I made a return to my Instagram and started an AGTube (American Girl YouTube). Something I’ve realised is that I am terrible at making stop motions, I don’t have the time or space for them, but I love my dolls personalities and exploring how they would interact with each other which is what inspired me to set up this blog. Here I will be sharing short stories based on my dolls with some occupying photography.
Not all my posts will be fiction about the characters in my collection, I will also write about my opinions of future releases and in depth reviews of items and dolls, as well as other general commentary about the dolls and the brand.
I guess it’s time I share a little more about myself and my dolls.
Well, my name is Katie, I live in the UK and I’m 18. I’ve been collecting American Girl dolls since 2013 when I received Emma (truly me 27) for Christmas. I discovered American Girl after searching online clothes for my designafriend (a UK 18” doll brand) doll I had just gotten. I had always loved 18” dolls, as a young child I had many BFCInk dolls (anyone remember them?) and so when a doll I had never seen before popped up with it’s adorable face I was immediately intrigued. I kinda forgot for a few weeks and then my curiosity struck, I searched up American Girl online and came across dolls like Molly, Saige, the My American Girl dolls which had their own club penguin style game (oh how I miss Innerstar University) and than the most beautiful doll I’d ever seen, Cecile Rey. I wanted one of these dolls so badly, I showed them to my mum and she was unimpressed, far too expensive (at the time they were actually only around £70, now they cost £150, if only we knew what we knew now) and unavailable in England. She tried to talk me out of it but it became a special interest (I’m autistic and I get intense interests and attachments to things) and I was on the American Girl website and eBay every single day from September till Christmas (and long after that too), my parents got me one along with a reborn, they thought I would play with the reborn more but it turns out, almost 8 years later I still frequently use Emma, and that reborn is long gone. American Girl has had a massive impact on my life and wellbeing it may be kind of cringe to admit, but these little pieces of vinyl and wig have gotten me through a lot.
I have a collection of 11 wonderful pals, including my dream doll Cecile who I got for Christmas in 2016. They include Emma (truly me 27), Marie-Grace, Tori (truly me 33), Jessica (Maryellen), Lea (girl of the year 2016), Cecile, Gabrielle (girl of the year 2017) Abigail (Tenney), Bella (truly me 30), Mini Katie (girl of the year 2021) and lastly 35th anniversary Felicity!
My twin sister also has a love for these dolls, she has an Instagram called visionofdollies and her dolls include Ariana (Rebecca), Delilah (truly me 29), Mary Jane (Melody) and her newest edition, Vivienne (truly me 85). These 4 will likely make frequent cameos in the short stories.
That’s all from me for now, hopefully a little story plus character profiles will be coming soon!
