Our Time Travelling Ancestor Part One

Our Time Travelling Ancestor (Part One)

Disclaimer: Tori uses they/them/she/her pronouns with a preference for they\them.

Tori sighed as they looked out their window, it was raining again for the fifth day this week. All they wanted to do was practice some tennis ahead of their tournament in a months time but the conditions from the storm were too treacherous and tennis rackets had been banned from the house after Emma smashed a vase. Little did Tori know, their morning boredom would soon come to an abrupt end.

Tori began to hear an alarming high pitched squeal coming from the opposite end of the room. Maybe it was their drama queen sister Jessica, but the screech lasted far longer than Jessica could hold a scream for. Tori decided to check it out, feeling both curious but a little frightened. Tori’s legs rattled and shook as they approached the horror scene. Tori was certain something was there but it was hard to distinguish since an intense bright light clouded over it. “Well this is a first” they thought to them-self. In the Cookieboodolls’ household there was always chaos, dolls fighting, dolls falling, dolls taking their heads off, even dolls swinging from ropes like wrecking balls, but there was never an alien invasion or whatever mysterious science fiction event was unfolding here.

The glow came to a blunt end as it let off an excruciatingly loud bang, followed by equally painful high pitched sizzles, like fireworks but with more aggression and vigour. Tori was now fearful and in discomfort with their ears ringing, but now they had clarity of what the object behind the fog was. It was, well it was just a dolls box, at least that is how it appeared. “Katie must’ve gotten a new doll but what is up with the explosion?” Tori thought as they examined it. They prodded the box and it burst open, forcing Tori to lose balance and fall. Out came a red-headed doll in a flower printed gown. “Here thee, here thee, I don’t know where I am but I shrift this is not home, who are thou?” The woman called out. To Tori’s luck they actually did listen in English and understood much of what the perplexed lady said. “My name is Tori, this is my home” she replied trying to provide a welcoming and understanding smile.

“I feel this ghastly place is too mad to make any sense off, wherefore art thou dressed like that?”

“Okay, that’s rude, I’m dressed like this because it’s 2021 and people can wear what they want”

“What do thou mean it’s 2021, that is preposterous, it is 1783.”

“No it’s not, it’s 2021, which leaves us with one explanation, you’re a time traveler, you traveled to the future!”

“Zany!”

“I have proof! This object here is a phone, and there’s the date, it is May 12th 2021”

“Thou vile, mad creature, this is all lies”

“No need to be so rude, I am telling the truth, what is your name?”

“Miss Merriman, Felicity Merriman”

“Woah, that’s weird, a while ago I was researching my ancestry and my great, great, great, great Grandpa is named William Merriman.”

“That is my brother!”

“So that would make you my Aunt, oh I need to tell Jessica about this, we have a time travelling Aunt!”

“Preposterous” muttered Felicity as Tori made a run for the next room where Jessica and Ariana shared an intimate meal.

“You won’t believe what just happened!” Tori yelled at their sister.

“You brain fart, can’t you see that we are on a date. this is supposed to be romantic!” Screamed the hot headed Jessica, she continued “What is so unbelievable that you had to interrupt me and my girlfriend at dinner?”

“One of our ancestors time traveled here”

“Are you kidding me, is this a prank, is Emma behind this?”

“Jessica chill, it’s not that big of a deal” Ariana interrupted, she locked her eyes with Jessica’s to reinforce her stern message.

“Preposterous” Felicity grumbled as she stumbled into the room.

“Who is this old hag?” Asked bitter Jessica.

“Jessica that is so rude!” Exclaimed Ariana.

“That is our great, great, great, great, great Aunt Felicity.” Tori told.

Jessica knew her sibling well enough to understand that the look on their face was completely serious, this woman, somehow was actually related to them. A silence occurred amongst the dolls, this was now a family reunion.
